£5000, low depreciation, can be a guzzler?
Discussion
So I battled back from virtual bankruptcy over the last 3 years. ( Driving a 205 and volvo V70 1999, quite good actually, oh God I am now my Dad it's official)
I can chuck 5k at a motor and, hopefully, the same again for the next few years. I'd like to upgrade annually. I work from home, only the school run (12 miles daily) and little trips so I thought a barge might be good value for me but I'm looking for minimum with depreciation and reliablity.
Any thing thirsty, bullet proof and slow to lose value in this price range chaps?

928 s4' I had a very nice fsh example for £5k and find the right person to look after it and won't cost too much, won't depreciate much.
Same again for M5 E34 3.5 £5k will get you a good one and will hold it's value.
Newer but the same is M3 E36 choice of coupe saloon or convertible all in budget.
Amazing what you can get for £5k

Haha, brilliant responses so far gents you've put a smile on my face. I'd totally forgotten the XJR was an itch I wanted to scratch some years ago. I'll have a look at some possible case senarios with problem areas of the vintage I'd be looking at.
Audi AllRoad has also raised an eyebrow, I've gotten used to the flexiblity of estates. Thanks

I promise it will not disappoint! Having had upwards of 40 cars and the Allroad was bought as a cheap daily yet I've put it in the 'best car you've had' thread. Even a rare 4.2 V8!!

another vote for the Merc SL..my mates Dad has an 06 plate 350SL and a 1993 300SL..the old 93 motor is by far the more reliable car, depite them both being in similarly molly-coddled 1owner condition..but I think the shape he has were still around up to the turn of the century..lovely old things in the same way as all late 80s/early 90s Mercs were bulletproof..pretty much hit the bottom I would reckon now too
