Bit of a problem, any help appreciated...

Friend is in Australia and the tag to the immobiliser on his car has been lost and apparently the company cannot provide replacements. The car has now sat in a private car park in Putney for a few weeks and now will be towed from tomorrow around midday so needs to be moved before then.

I figure get AA (home start/relay) to pick up car and take it to an auto electrician workshop somewhere and ask them to fit a new immobiliser and hope it takes them all weekend as I cannot store the car although may be able to call in a few favours if need be.

Will I have any issues because it's not my car and don't have V5/current imob tag?

Thanks in advance.

Nearly forgot, the car is a Lancia Delta HF Integrale smile

It'll be an aftermarket alarm immobiliser which can be bypassed without too much hassle. The AA patrol may well do it for you rather than recover it so you can then drive it to the garage for repair/replacement.

I'm sure there is an audio shop that could sort it for you. I only had one fob with my E30 and they took the model number off the alarm unit and got me another fob for £50.

Most can bypass an aftermarket immobilizer within 10 minutes - usually less.

Thanks guys. AA finally collected it this morning after a 3 hour wait. It's gone to a Lancia place in Reading who are taking a look at it. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix or they CAN find a new fob.
