When's it due to go on sale in the UK?

Any info filtering through on engine specs, weight etc?

Will a traditional softop still be an option, rather than folding roof?

Lastly, any proper pictures rather than photoshopped ones?

Thanks in advance.

there's various rumours going about but nothing concrete
Autoexpress seem to have created a view of what it will look lke.
I can't recall where i've read but more than one place has suggested a 1.5 ti and no glovebox fitted and an OEM handbook on a USB stick

I did read somewhere that they will likely use one the their new "Sky" engines so will probably be a small engine (1.4?) with a turbo. Should mean a small lightweight car with decent performance but also very good economy & emissions = low road tax smile

I really hope that Mazda can reduce the weight and maintain current power outputs. I would prefer to see N/A engines but understand that smaller capacity turbos turbos will provide better MPG and lower CO2. A well engineered 150bhp car weighing just over a tonne would make the current Elise look very expensive in my opinion.

My Mk3.5 Sport Tech weighs 1080kg (on the V5) and has 160bhp. One would expect an improvement with power/weight ratio with the Mk4.

Id be surprised if that were the case, even the later MK1's were tipping the scales at just over the tonne.. it was only the pov-spec early 1.6 that was 940kg

The MK3 softtop is not much heavier than the MK2, around 1100kg. Mazda made a big deal about it when it was first released.

Quoted from here:

"...the Mk3.5 is just 1080 kgs."

And like I say, it says "1080kg" on my V5.

This article is based on rumour, but at least it's an exciting one...

"The Mazda Miata has always been a lightweight car, but a new report is indicating the next-generation model could weigh less than 2,000 lbs (907 kg)."
