bonnet stuck and 4th to 3rd gear shift
Discussion
finally got the s3 today and I am having fun and games already!! On the way home the bonnet cach (drivers side) came undone........... once home tightened catch back up and boneet shut fine..... and has now stayed shut!!!!! Wont open when I pull the lever.... wire isn't broken. any ideas?????
Also 2nd to 3rd is ok and 3rd to 4th is ok.... but 4th to 3rd is a bugger!!!!!! don't think I got it in without a bit of a crunch on the journey.... sound normal and I'll just have to get the knack or is it anything else??
Apart from that looks great and runs brilliantly.

Mine is the same, to get the bonnet up i need two people one to pull the leaver down hard and another to wiggle the bonnet, also only pops up when driving between 25-35mph.
Leebee owes me one so over to you

The other thing is to check the level of the clutch fluid and try bleeding the system (a bit of a bugger to do as the master cylinder's stuck up on the side of the gearbox, therefore obviously covered in crap, and the bleed nipple's at the top of the cylinder!).

Managed to get it open and seem to have figured out how to open and close it. left hand on the lever ... right hand pushing open the bonnet

If after checking your master and slave clutch cylinders for leaks and bleeding or preferably renewing and bleeding your clutch fluid and ensuring the pedal subsequently operates the slave through its full range I'd say your synchromesh on 3rd is on its way out. I'd normally expect it to crunch coming down from 4th as well but if you're managing to match engine speeds on the way down but not on the way up that may explain it.
The synchro went in mine on 4th. I took the engine and box out and had the box sorted for 200 quid and put a new clutch in at the same time and then put it all back together and it completely solved the problem.
If you have a warranty I'd suggest you confirm the problem quickly before the warranty expires as it's either an expensive job to get done for you or an involved job to do yourself. Having said that my warranty didn't cover mine as they viewed it as normal wear and tear which, strictly speaking, is true.

it has a 12 month warranty. Its ok on the way up but not down..... although went in ok when Mrs Doddze gave it a wiggle!!!! All fluids etc should be ok as she had a service as I bought her.... if no joy getting it right then I will pop her back in to the garage... they said they would have her out for a run to sort all the probs prior to selling her... oh well 4th to 2nd and a bit of braking.... she will sound good!!!
