5 years for Three Kids
Discussion
The family seem surprised he was found guilty - but with no licence, no insurance and no MOT it was prob inevitable.
What do you lot think?

Hmm.. doesn't tally with the guy who got 5yrs for the Selby Train crash does it?
IMO this guy personifies the height of monumental stupidity & he's lucky he got such a short sentence. I guess one has to hope that what the judicial system has failed to do, he'll do to himself by way of remorse etc..
Shame he's still in the gene pool though..

Can't agree with JSG more - no lessons, no test, no insurance, no tax, no MOT, three deaths but could easily have been more - and he's surprised he's been sent to prison!!!!
I agree with the view that he will have to live with the memory of what he has done for the rest of his life, but he should accept that his sentance was light and just get his head down and get on with it. But then again he thought driving towards the hazard was a good idea so no chance of that.

I'm sorry, but with the increasing persicution of licenced drivers by the law, it really p*sses me of that this t*sser got off so lightly.
Christ in my opinion he should have got 5 years for the motoring offences alone, before consideration was even taken into the death of the Kids.
It's bloody obvious what he was doing.... Right foot holding the door open, left foot on the throttle, realised he was in trouble so planted the left foot to the floor, which ensured he had no chance of avoiding the plunge. God it's not rocket science.
Pah

Dan,
I agree that he deserves to go to jail for that BUT if he was on private property he didn't commit any motoring offences. You can do whatever you like on private property, and that is something we must remember. Things like this happen and I am sure the stupid bastard will have nightmares for the rest of his life.
He deserves prison less than a lot of the little scrotes who get let off, or taken away on holiday.

you say it happened on private property so they cant do nothing ,that is unless its a scrote nicking your car on your drive way or stealing from you house , and if you beat the crap out of them you get done ???? all makes sense to me
and how the mother could stand by him after killing her kids ?????

Fair enough point. But how did he get the car there. It wasn't left there for his or anuone elses use. He must have driven it there on public roads and therefor further reinforcing the point made that he has little regard for the law or life.
Sorry I still don't understand why he was driving with his right foot holding the door open
unless it was no accident.
As for the bint sticking by him
only adds to the no accident theory in my book, no mother would accept a man such as this back into her life, well none that I know.
Personally I'd put a pair of concrete boots on the scrote and drop him in the same lake if they were my kids.
Harry
PS The above is obviously all IMHO. It does not represent the opinion or desires of the management of this site or their horses.

Interestingly the law was changed a few years ago after some idiot drove over an occupied tent on a camping site. Under certain circumstances any area to which the public have legal access can be regarded as the highway, it is no longer the case that you can do what you like off road.
As a ten year old I was able to legally drive on the beach, it is no longer that straightforward.

There is no need or legal requirement for any paperwork MOT or anything to drive on private land, That's why he was prosecuted for manslaughter, but as he was toatlly irresponsible he deserved everything he got and I hope his cellmates are barstewards...... because hard labour is no longer allowed for such peasants...
If you can be prosecuted for drink driving on private land (the charge is drunk in charge of a vehicle - even a pushbike) then why the hell can't you be prosecuted for driving in a public area without license, tax or MOT.
More importantly - if the throttle had stuck why didn't he turn the engine off? From what has been posted he didn't even try to steer away from the water. If it wasn't deliberate it certainly proves that the guy was absent the day they handed out the brains! Either that or someone had been pissing in the shallow end of the gene pool! Maybe he expected the car to float....

Its been covered above, but that area is a known local "beauty spot" where lots of people go to relax and play in the water. To get to it you MUST drive on the public highway and as the land is actually private and not PUBLIC, the landowner is pretty strict on its usage - in fact it can be locked up and he is under instruction by the local authority to keep it clean etc.
Now due to the accident he is forced with a large bill for bringing it upto PUBLIC standards. Its his land and he doesnt have to do this - in fact he is already talking of closing it due to this - one less place that local Befordonians can go to. Nice one...
As for offence etc - 5 years is probably the right level. He didnt "willfully" go out to crash and kill 3. He didnt knowingly wish to crash the car down the bank and in the end it was a gross error of judgement - that lets be honest here, deserves punishment. The combination of the facts lead to this.
One final comment - I bet the police must have been biting their tongues - the facts about no MOT, no tax and no insurance werent public until after the case. They must have known this before, but with the guilty parties lawyers doing their PR efforts, they neglected to mention these small mitigating factors..... only small of course!!! And the police could say nothing while this was going on due to the risk to the case....
How can they do that...??
Cheers,
Paul
