Whats quicker !!!!

I know that they are both quick cars but is the 4.5 Cerbera quicker than a Red Rose Tuscan....

I have a clip somewhere of me driving my friends 4.2 cerbera at bruntingthorpe and leaving a tuscan red rose at a fair rate of knots .. will have to try to find the cd out sometime .. the swearing inside the tuscan (from which it was being filmed) was entertaining!! lmao...

Why would this be when the Cerbera is aledged to be down on power. I would expect a Tuscan S to be noticably quicker than either a 4.2 or 4.5 Cerb, or are we now saying that a Tuscan S is also 40 or 50 BHP short of its quoted power output?

I think you'll find there is a lot more to it than peak power.

Those Cerb's would have the advantage of a broader torque curve instead of the slightly peaky straight six...

then again the power output on *all* of the models seems to be down on what is quoted

oh really???? think not. think the V8s are known for being down on quoted power (but still have a helluva lot of grunt) whereas several speed sixes i have seen results from, more than match the claims.

Theres a bit of that in it.

For comparison the 996 X50's where hitting high 190's with 450bhp and the slimcia RuF R Turbo with around 550 (I think) was 200+

My bog standard Tamora is putting out 338bhp, and peaks at 286 lbs ft of torque - the power is only 4% down on TVR's official figure of 350bhp.

By way of comparison, to quote from the Joospeed website -

"The Cerbera 4.5 is well known for being down on quoted power, 420bhp is the figure TVR use but consistently the cars return power figures in the 330-350bhp region, it's an exceptional car that makes 360bhp plus.
By comparison the 4.2 cars tend to be more realistically rated at 360bhp from TVR, these cars do sometimes make this figure but lose out on torque to the 4.5 cars."

After my 12K service (couple of the trottle bodies were well out) the RR is now much,much quicker, Craigs 4.5 is not standard (even without the NOS) so it would be a bit closer today, and you need to factor in driver ability

Cerb was my late trusty 4.2. Tuscan S was...well...a Tuscan S.
