Key fob re programming

Ok , my car a '99 x308 jaguar xjr has been off the road for a while . It will no longer unlock / lock off the key fob. I have replaced the batteries but to no avail.
What can I do? Unlocks from the key ok , but not fully. Eg the fuel cap will not unlock unless the key is in the ignition

My starting point would be,

Sorted ! Was a little bored this afternoon so I took the plipper apart and cleaned it with some White spirit and a cotton bud. More specifically the rear of the circuit board which has to be flicked out.
Works fine now
