Looking at both of these at the moment and i dont know which would be better. Im looking for something different from my saxo which both manage but i cant decide which one would be better. So far i think the integra looks better and is possibly faster but iv never had a RWD car and would like to give it a go. Which one would you go for?

Integra type R is one of the best handling road cars in the world. The 328i is a great road car but it's nothing on the Integra.

It would have to be the Integra for me too. One of the best FWD cars ever made with an engine that is a total gem.

Another vote for the Integra. The 328i is a great car but the Integra edges it for me.

I've had an ITR, 328i and an M3. Out of the 3 the ITR wins everytime. The handling is immense, the grip, the steering feedback probably the best car I've had in terms of driver experience.
The steering on the beemers is st to put it bluntly. The only problem with the ITR is you need to find one without rust. And preferably had most of the bushes changed recently.

Two great but totally different cars depending on what you want.

BM is a compact GT.

ITR is a frippery-less B-road blaster.

Very different. If you can live without toys and soundproofing, get the ITR...it's such a good car, and is very difficult to drive it 'sensibly', such is the character and ability. Importantly, it still feels involving at 5/10ths.

I still haven't decided whether to keep the ITR or the NSX when the time comes to get a 'sensible' car - that's how high I rate it.

Yep, you definitely need a Z3/late E46 (or E46 Compact) rack on - BMW seem to struggle with decent steering esp on some older models.
2 different cars though - the ITR might not be so comfy for long trips but is a blast on a track. Interestingly on faster tracks there's little between them in lap times ( Silverstone/Combe ) when mags have tested them

We've owned a DC2 and DC5, both cars belonged to the wife wink The DC2 was mental, used to scare old ladies at the side of the road in the vtec zone! My choice too.

Question is, what will you be doing with it?

2 very different cars; 328 sport manual a very good cheap rwd coupe ideal for doing lots of miles, nice smooth run around with good mpg, but when pushed past say 8/10th's is only very average (poor in fact) without a fair few mods.

Integra Type R is one of the best drivers cars when you start to push it towards its true capabilies, but can be a bit of a pain if you never get to see some quiet roads (track) where you can enjoy what it really does well.

I've owned several of both (at the same time) and not sure how you find yourself with these as the 2 as your final choice as they are so different.

There is loads of stuff recently on PH about 328's as the ideal track car, well unless you start doing a load of upgrades thats a load of rubbish.

Whereas with an Integra type R its pretty much ready for the track, but not so good as a mile muncher.

Try 'em both...... But I think the ITR will be closer to what you want

I had an integra dc2 type R a few years back, fresh import, minter.
Great cars, handle well and look good, the only problem was the engine, its a good one but it needs to be worked very hard to get anything out of it.

Brilliant to drive on a test drive, reving the knackers of someonelses car!, but after 2 weeks the novelty wore off and I sold it.

I prefer the power delivery of a sweet streight 6 as found in the bmw, smooth constant power from 1500rpm to 6500rpm, with the honda you need to be over 6000rpm, and your piston rings will be worn out and you will burn oil, lots of it, mine used 1 litre a week, not thrashing it either, it is a common problem.

You gota take the plunge, buy one and see it you can live with it everyday.

The only reason I didnt like it was the power delivery, totaly useless unless your giving it hell. apart from that it was a great car.

I'm no Integra fanboy- I'm looking at you, gearbox! - but with respect, that's not really true, is it? Do you honestly think 'useless' is the right word?
Some Integras do drink oil, and they're the ones to avoid. If you go looking OP, try to avoid smoke in VTEC (or have as little of it as possible, realistically.) You want to be using less than a litre of oil per 1000 miles (and that's maximum.)

ok, fair point its not useless, but not powerful.
its only my opinion, , the op wants honest opinions.smile

I do find your username and lack of RWD driving experience mildly amusing however...

The 328i will be a much nicer car to drive daily, more comfortable and much easier to drive quickly IMO.

The ITR is an absolute blast. I've not owned one but driven a 96 spec JDM model quite extensively. The handling is immense and they are very fast for a 1.8!

The 200sx is not my cup of tea. In standard form it's nothing more than average. They have huge tuning potential but I don't see them as the RWD bargain they're made out to be. You need to spend a lot of money on them to get them to their best.

For a daily I'd take the 328i Sport. As much as I love the ITR the st interior and general dated feel would annoy me.

However, if you're able to enjoy the chassis and VTEC on a daily basis then that may sway it for me.

The ITR will drink fuel if you keep it in VTEC!

I think the 200SX will be pretty much as fast as the BM or maybe a smidge faster. I reckon you'll have to spend a bit more to get a decent 200SX though.
Quite soft as standard but then so are the BMs
