windowscreen wiper spindles S1

The nearside wiper spindle has started to give up on my S1, although the spindle seems not to be too badly worn in its housing, the whole housing is starting to 'wobble' about a bit. I'm going to have the dash out this winter to tackle several problems, including this one. Does anyone know the origins of this part, or have found a suitable replacement for this part so I can get one in ready?
bought a pair for my S3 (same?) from TVR Carparts. £26 each, a little more than price on website which perhaps needs up-dating but still quite reasonable I thought.
They are different, can't remember for sure but maybe the nearside is quite common but other is an unusual ratio and while maybe not unique to TVR I couldn't find anywhere else.
The nearside one had completely rusted through the outer sleeve part that the eight sided nut screws onto.
