335d M Sport Valuation Please?
Discussion
Hi,
Am thinking of selling my car privately and would appreciate your thoughts on real world values...it's a two owner car, myself and BMW AUC,The car is silver with red leather interior, has covered 26,000 miles and has a FBMWSH. The car is in excellent condition. The car was registered in November 2008 and I bought it in May 2009 from Knights BMW in Staffordshire, I love the car but it's just not getting used enough.
Would appreciate any thoughts or advice please guy's?

Thanks Guys,
It's a E92 Coupe-Titanium Silver with Coral Red leather,M-light alloys, sunroof, heated seats, folding mirrors,sat-Nav and blue tooth. The only thing that bothered me about the car was the ride on fun flats so I changed the tyres to Michelin Pilot Sports around 1500 miles ago.
Appreciate the coral red leather might be a bit "marmite" but would welcome your thoughts?
Cheers

Here is a good comparison for you on autotrader at the moment, slightly higher miles but its an 08 reg, aslo with the red leather asking £22,500 private

SE's or wierd specs (eg no leather) go below £20k, so I'd say that is about right. Ask £23k, take anything over £21k would be where I'd start.

Go to vauxhall website, go to offers&finance and then mycar and you can get a free caps valuation. It shows you the trade in price which is obviously bottom end but useful as a guide.
That website does give fire sale prices just put in the details for my car it was £8k..wtf. Christ the E46 330d 4 years older are at that price. Welshbeef said:

I assume it must be based on bog standard cars, of which there are very few really in the larger engined models. My 05 330iSE auto fully loaded (leather, prof nav, xenons, elec/heated sport seats, elec roof, etc etc) with 60k miles is 6k on there! Good luck finding one for that!
Having said that the traders seen to use it as i've been offered between 6 and 7k for it in part-ex (against their top retail prices of course). I reckon its 9-10k all day long in a private sale, trade is less obviously, but not that much. If it was a manual with cloth seats, no nav etc in a rubbish colour then maybe.....

Personally i think you will wait for ever at 23k, you have this one being sold privately for 21.8k, although the mileage is a 35k is not a million miles from yours, especially on a decent diesel engine. The fact that you have a coral red interior really cuts down the potential buyers too, but you never know, someone out there might be specifically looking for a red interior. I would have put it on at around 21.5k-22k, even at that price people will still want to know you down.
Edited to say; you don't mention if its a saloon or coupe, that will also factor at least a grand out of the price too.

Check the classifieds for similar and price accordingly.
Not that difficult is it??
Except that a snapshot of asking prices does not actually reflect what the cars that are actually shifting are selling for. Not that difficult is it??
In May my 330d M Sport was written of by some idiot in a 7 ton wagon in may. It took Zurich about 7 weeks before they even inspected my car, never mind making me a settlement offer for it. In that time I watched the market closely for a replacement.
There are still cars for sale today that were for sale in June and I think it is because larger engined cars are not selling. Some cars have been reduced as much as £3000 in that time and still are not shifting.
What I have learned is that asking prices on Autotrader are NOT a good indication of values. You need to spend time watching and observing what cars are actually selling - i.e.: those that seem to disappear from Autotrader because they are sold. Then you will have a reasonable idea of the true market price.
Look at Autotrader for just a day, or even a couple of weeks and you only have a brief snapshot that does not really reflect actual market conditions.
