Where would you put the door open buttons?

Been thinking of replacing the centre pod for a ipod touch (maybe an ipad)
But can't decide where I would put the door open buttons.

Suggestions?

Or reactive the door open button function associated with the winder knobs. That was the original design and imho very cool. Depending on low long your legs are, accidental activation may or may not be a problem. That's whythe factory moved them to the radio pod in the first place.

Not sure what would be needed electronically but it can't be that hard if you're handy with electrics as all the bits are already there.

I am 6ft and am always knocking the window switch. You could be conventional and put them in the doors or go tru TVR style and fit them in the boot

TBH I can't really think of a place that wouldn't look wrong

Not sure if the door open buttons work when driving. Assuming not then it Could be quite easy to just rewire them to the window button.

The buttons did work when driving, hence the move. I would use them but with a speed input, at the time it was easier just to move the buttons.

Apparently people objected to the doors flying open at speed!

The door opening switch is supposed to be disabled when moving, so the main problem was the button accidently being pressed whilst stopped at lights and the the door opening as you move off. But a faulty speed sensor could easily allow the doors to be opened at speed.

Thinking about it, operating the windows at traffic lights could get irritating as I'm always pressing the knobs by accident. Will see if I can make up a new housing for a ipod touch or possibly a Samsung galaxy and mount the buttons to that.

I can see why you want to incorporate an Ipod etc, I am sure you will do an excellent job, but I wonder whether the effort is worth it. For instance a Samsung Galaxy, Ipad etc will be old hat in a year or 2 and the housing you make may not fit their replacements.
