More DVLA incompetence

Having decided to sell a surplus car I applied to DVLA to put the cherished plate on retention at the end of July. The first week in August I had the paperwork to put the old number back on. Mid August sold the car and completed the V5 with the non cherished plate on it.
I was just beginning to wonder why I had not had the acknowledgement of new keeper document when on Friday I got a V11 renewal reminder to get a tax disc, for the cherished plate number, 6 weeks after they put it on retention. This morning I got the acknowledgement of new keeper document.
They are so busy being officious they cant keep their own house in order. Useless wkERS
