I'm about to repair the burnt power coating around the headers/cats with a quality 2 pack paint and I was asked the question "is the chassis chrome molly?" apparently it has something to do with an etch primer if it is CM.

Who knows what material? A happy clapping smiley to the first correct answer!!

Plain carbon steel type material, hence the rust protection required.

Round and rectangular section seamed steel tube. Except the Tuscan Challenge racers that are 100% cold drawn seamless round tube.

The models that followed the wedge had thinner steel but more tubes for
strength.
