Are these cars any good? they look like a good used bargain, find one that hasn't had the naff Bentley treatment and they look like a good buy for the money.

Everytime I consider one I talk myself out of it, its like leaving your kids with a creepy uncle. Its probably going to be ok but you cant help but wonder if its going to end in tears at any minute.

Im not expecting it to handle well, but I dont do the kind of driving that requires a good handling car tbh. Im after comfort, something that will overtake on the motorway. I dont do big mileage so I think the 5.7l V8 could be for me.

I have a diesel 300c. It has had the Bentley treatment and looks all the better for it IMO. Has had quite a few issues but is very comfy and returns decent MPG. On motorways the pull is terrific and I would consider it a decent buy. The 5.7 is a bit juicy I would suggest.

A friend of mine has a 5.7 litre. It's very big, very fast and very thirsty. Nice interior, and pretty comfortable. If you can stomach the MPG go for it, otherwise, consider a 4.2 V8 XJ?

Even in the latest model, the 300 is a lot softer than the equivalent Charger (which is US-only). If you're going to buy one then look for an SRT8 which has the better 6.1 V8 and I think has better suspension and a better "image".

I hired a V6 Charger in the US and while I wanted to like it, it was a bit dull. The V8 would certainly answer some of the criticism I had of it and add character but I felt the Charger was a good car for the USA, not necessarily here.

My main gripe with them is that you do see a few chavved up and round here, a lot (mainly silver ones) get used as cabs which kind of takes away the "exclusivity". That said, in dark colours, they can look good if you keep them polished up.

A Monaro CV8 will be a better car and to be honest, you might also want to look at the Cadillac CTS 3.6 Sport which will be a better driver's car and the V6 packs a reasonable punch too.

The original look is best but the interiors are cheap and nasty

Thanks ive read the 6.1 is easier to find and cheaper to purchased used but with the 5.7 im expecting 15mpg. How worse can the 6.1 be?

It's only the interiors which let them down. Acres of cheap plastic. If that doesn't turn you off, they're a great bargain. Haggle hard if you're looking at a big petrol one.

Love them, and would have a diesel if I could swap my company car for cash.

All I know if that you want a facelift version, as they got a significant interior upgrade. Think it came in 2007.

Was it the lastest 2011 Charger with the new Pentastar 3.6 litre V6 with VVT or the one before with the anaemic engine?
Overall I've been very impressed with the new charger V6. It's not the fastest with a 0-60 in about 8-9 seconds but the fuel economy is great- about 34 mpg (US!!) at a steady 70 mph cruise and going down to 24 mpg in freeway traffic. I measured this over and over on two seperate vehicles ( I know it trounces the Government figures). With fuel economy like that why waste your time with nasty 4 pots? The interior is now great-styled by Fiat and I liked the ride handling compromise. I thought the engine could do with more character.

Does that include Bentley badges? Why do people do this? Are they a bit dim or something because... it still isn't a Bentley?

Pimp on the outside, gimp on the inside.

From Topgear magazine years ago. Made me laugh and quite accurate.

Nice big buses but better than an E60 5 series or Audi A6 for the same money? No.

Drove a diesel one back to back once with my then car a W210 E320 cdi, that the 300C was based on.

MB was miles ahead.

Would someone enlighten me as to which Bentley they are supposed to look like, because it's got me stumped?

You know, that big one, with the big grille and big wheels...

No, the last one - hired it in 2008. All the American V6s have upped their game considerably since then. However, it was the whole car which was just like any big saloon of a previous era and uninspiring. Hope to try a new one when we go next.

Exactly. I think the people who replace the front grille with that are actually taking away one of the distinctive features of the car. I love the design but the execution (especially the interior) is not good quality by a country mile.
