Just curious what the PH view is. This involves making an appointment to view a car as a private sale.

Arrive before 4.55pm if it was me, make sure i was in the right place, scope the car out, then wait until 4.55pm, then introduce myself, but that's just me

I try and arrive on time, but often am late. I find as long as I phone the customer beforehand it doesn't really matter though.

So far this weekend, I've had the bottom 3 happen. I can't understand how people can be so ill mannered.

Alway early to view a car. Preferably early enough to see the truer picture of ownership. Well worth doing it.

I wouldn't arrive too early, the suggestion of arriving 20 mins early is obviously just daft. You would look like a right muppet!

But it does give you the chance to see if the car is being warmed up.

I try to arrive 20 mins early just because it means I have allowed for traffic etc so I would not be late. Then I will mooch around and go to the address door at the agreed time.

But no shows are all too common in private sales I am afraid. I think it's why traders do well, people simply can't be bothered being messed about when selling privately.

Get a few mates to call making appointments and not turn up. Get a couple more to offer a crazy low price without asking anything about the car. Then telephone, make appointment, arrive on time, tell them that you feel sorry for them selling a car because you get loads of people who don't turn up, others who make silly offers without seeing the car. Have a good look around then walk away saying that you've seen a better one for a lot less, Say goodbye and wish them well in the sale.

Phone up the next day saying the wife prefers the colour of his and offer a bit more than your mates had offered a few days earlier.

There is that. But if I went to look at a car with a 'it's been warmed up ready for a test drive' attitude, that would be one alarm bell going off.

There is nothing worse than being late IMO. (well there is but you know)
But no matter where I'm going I'll make sure I'm there early.

certainly aim to be there 15-20 mins if it's local; if it's further I'll aim to turn up about an hour early and have lunch nearby if I get there as per the schedule. It's not fair to make people hang around.

Arrive early and scope the area/car out, with a view to driving on if i'm not 100%.
