you mean which V8V in the classifieds under £40k would be buy ?
Yup, that was the intended meaning! I have a £40k ish budget and want a V8V. There are quite a few on the classifieds here (and other websites) for that sort of money. I know there are one or two I have my eye on, but nothing yet quite ticks all the boxes at the right price. As £40k can get you a car from a private/Indy/dealer, with options of no/3rd party/AM warranty over a range if mileages. It also breaks you into early MY07 cars, or a low mile 55 or 06 which may be in the £245/yr tax bracket...then there are the colour combination and options!!
I would just like to hear from owners/other enthusiasts about where they would put their money if buying a V8V and, more importantly, why. Hoping to get a bit of insight as to whether people think warranty is important and at what cost, views on colours/options and also the MY07.

Thanks for replying, but yes - after the V8 Vantage only, my dad wants to buy a DB9 which says enough about it for me!Quinny said:
I thought he said he wanted a sporty version....
So if your dad changed his mind and wanted a Vantage, you'd then rule that out?
DB9 is bigger and better. And cleverer, and more comfortable around women. A manual sports pack DB9 is a hell of a machine...
General rule for 'Vantaging' is buy on condition, mileage is irrelevant (within reason) if service history is perfect. Buy the latest car you can and only the Aston warranty is worth having, partly because of the stringent checks to get the warranty put on in the first place. £40k will get you a cracker.
Please buy something other than *yawn* grey/silver with *zzz* black leather

Yeti speaks the truth, although the vast majority of Vantages for sale can be found in one of the shades of grey/silver, meaning you have more choice within these colour options. Of course, when most people think of a colour for an Aston, they consider the archetypal Aston colour of grey (I blame Q).The link below is a pretty comprehensive gallery of colours.

They always look to me, as though they're sitting there in primer, waiting for the colour coat to be applied
Into adulthood, the only silver/grey I like is Tungsten, the others leave me cold.
Could probably get this for £40k - http://pistonheads.com/sales/3209976.htm
Much nicer colour than the dreary grey/silver/black ones.

Bad attempt on my behalf to blame Q from Goldfinger for introducing us to the grey Aston DB5 causing a generation of kids growing up to assume that an Aston needs to be in this colour.

If you £40k to buy a V8V, what car would you buy and why would you pick it?

It's a matter of personal choice, but I much prefer grey/silver to Black or White That Toro car is simply lovely. Historically a red Aston has been hard to shift, but that colour is stunning and should age well too.
