After watching the GP from Monza today I felt inclined to put the following you-tube clip together of a 3.23 minute dream ride that I was lucky enough to experience in a Porsche Carrera GT last year on the Cannonball Run Europe. We maxed out around 170mph down the main straight, the car was unbelievable, a real dream come true for a car mad petrolhead and life long F1 fan.

This year i have been lucky enough to go in a few of my all time favorites... the Zonda, F50, F40, F355, Ferrari Dino and a Ferrari 250 (LWB)

All of them were amazing, and nice long drives.... got to say the F40 was as insane as i always thought it would be! loved every second of it!

14 years old, strapped snugly into the rear of a tuned 2WD Saph. Father and his best friend up front having a hoon. I do remember the speedo at one point disappearing past 150.

Irresponsible parenting at it's finest. I was sworn not to tell my mother when we got home.

Unfortunately no trips in any exotica for me to date.

Either a rather swift run cross country in a 2.9 Granada Scorpio with a couple of choice mods, namely flashing blue lights and a siren. Or... a few laps of Combe beside Bo Neilsen in his Time Attack winning Astra VXR. Both very different, but both equally fantastic.

I'm lucky to have passengered in many very nice cars, mostly some years ago now, and I've mentioned both of these before on different forums, so excuse me if you've read them from me before;

The best has to be in a very new (at the time) Ferrari F50.
I met the owner outside a diner, got chatting, and a few weeks later he kindly let me take lots of photos and took me out from his home for about an hour including up and down the M20, quite enthusiastically too!

Another was at a private track day at Brands Hatch, another kind gent gave me some laps in his Countach LP400, my all time favourite car.

Great memories.

First ride in a proper fast car was my fav passenger ride, 997 turbo driven/owned by my mate's dad, he is what I'd describe as a "professional" driver, took me around the countryside for about half an hour, I've never known such acceleration and cornering force. Still etched in my memory like it was yesterday. Thank you that man, highly aspirational for me.

Several for me, which encompassed McLaren F1; Jaguar XJ220; Ferrari F50 and Enzo; Porsche Carrera GT; Bugatti Veyron; Aston Martin Vantage supercharged; Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera; Rolls-Royce Phantom saloon and Drophead; and Bentley Eight supercharger out of just over 150 cars.

similarly, for me i must have been 16 and sat in the back of my best mate's brother's escort cossie. we lived in the country and this guy had a thorough knowledge of the local b roads and just how fast his car could take them. i recall seeing 80mph as we turned into one t-junction and i had a sore neck when i got out. i've never had a journey that so closely resembled a special stage since.

Went in a Porsche gt3 rs around the banked circuit at Mira. Hit about 170 down the straights and 120 on the bends.

Then getting off the track he was flying around the few corners like a man possessed.

Too many to list.

The first sports car I went in was a 996 Porsche Turbo aged 9, never been fast in a car until this doing 90mph was amazing...Sort of hooked onto the brand now you may notice!

A few years later got to go out in a 1958 Ferrari 250 GT TDF (ex Le Mans race car), the rarest and most expensive car I went in aged about 14/15, glorious V12 engine, and the owner was a top guy, really put his foot down and wasnt worried about thrashing the car (he still races it).

Then aged about 16 or so I went in a Spyker C8 Spyder.

This Year I went in a Ferrari Enzo, Aston Martin V8, Ariel Atom, 2x Ford Mustang (one a racing car), Ferrari F430 spider, Ferrari 355 spider (all of these in 1 day around the Top Gear test Track!)

Several caterhams/ westfields...

An array of new and old 911's from Turbo's to 993's

Plan on going in a 458 Italia or MP4 - 12C next weekend.

As for the cars I drove - well a DB9 aged 16 and a Cayman 2.9 and 2 week old Lambo Gallardo Spyder at Thruxton in July.

Hopefully a few more rides to come smile

Ariel Atom was a very memorable experience. And a passenger ride in the Nissan RB25 engined Japspeed S15 drift car. I was genuinely shocked how much grip the car had, and pulling the handbrake at 90mph just seems unnatural!

Difficult one, probably doing over 200mph in a a PHers Monaro, doing a lap of the Nurburgring with another PHer in his Cerb is right up there along with a lap of Spa with another rather deranged Tuscan owner. Too many to list really now I think about it as I've been lucky enough to go in a number of PHers cars.

170(ish) around the Daytona International Speedway in a two seater stock car.

Bricked myself when I thought he was going to stuff it into the wall on the first corner but relaxed after he didn't!

It's a toss up between 5 laps round Spa in a 430 Scuderia, or 2 laps round The 'Ring in a Caterham R500. Both good fun smile

A passenger ride around the Lotus test track in Norfolk, in a well tuned Exige, driven by a professional racing driver... I nearly shat myself.. repeatedly. It was spectacular smile

Nothing as exotic as any of yours. I've been in plenty of really nice cars but my most memorable was when I entered the Rally Quest comp at Silverstone Rally School back in 2007 (I didnt win but reached the final).

They use old mk2 escorts with worn out rear tyres on a gravel rally circuit. Very difficult to drive but at the end of the day the instructor took me for a blast. I was grinning ear to ear all the way round.

Fun doesn't have to be expensive.

Not many unfortunately frown
I've been out in Gallardos, Caterhams, Porchse etc but they were rather tame. The best for me was a pax ride round Silverstone in Phil James (Bosscerbs) Cerbera. It's one thing being driven in a truly quick car, another thing entirely when that car is being driven by a racing driver hell bent on overtaking everything else on track smile
