My wife and I have recently finished refurbing our 1930's house. Here is a pic of it from the outside:

Inside we have kept all the traditional picture rails and curved ceilings, however we have put a contemporary modern twist with some solid internal doors, modern flooring, lighting and furniture etc:

However, I'm really finding it hard to decide what style front door we should go for. Should we go modern, or traditional 30's? All opinions and style reference are very welcome! Here's a few ideas I've had:

I'd go with the 3rd picture. The door with the arched window looks out of place against the Square type Double Glazing you have. And the dark wood looks good against the brickwork.

When I first saw the pic of your house the door style in the 2nd pic came to mind but I don't think it looks quite right; the colour/style in the 3rd pic suits the house well. I'd go for a darker colour too.

I think the top one. Could be darker, but it looks slightly modern and slight art nouveau too, so suits the hybrid style of the house.

I'd go with the 3rd one as well smile
Originally thought the 2nd as I hadn't realised the 3rd had glass partitions too.

Thanks for all the input, I'm really surprised a few of you have gone for the first option which I though looked wrong. However I would love it to work as it would match our internal doors. The one placed in the image is a B&Q door.

I think the others who liked the 1st option all said the wood should be darker - and if it was mahogany coloured I'd go with it as well.
Being pine coloured it looks out of place.

2 is wrong because it's a cheap Carolina door you find in low-rate estates.

3 is wrong because whilst it's a pukka 30s design, the rest of the house has been upgraded.

Possibly search for "1930s front door" on that auction site for some ideas. There are quite a few reclaimed 1930s doors.
