Lose 3 stone in 6 months without heavy excercise?
Discussion
Can anyone give some advice / knowledge on this?
It needs to be done due to my fast approaching wedding and has been put off too long!
Thing is, I have recently twisted my knee and will be unable to run on it for some time which was the backbone of the plans...
Can it be achieved just through diet and perhaps light excercise? - walking is ok on the knee currently.

Have a look at www.myfitnesspal.com. I've lost nearly a stone in 2 months, mostly through calorie control via the site. A mate of mine has lost 2 stone, and many people on there have lost a lot more.
Check out http://www.cambridgeweightplan.com and http://www.lighterlife.com/. They both work the same and I have lost much more than you want to in less time. They do have restrictions though depending on your current weight/BMI.
Losing 20% (3 stone of 15) of your body weight in 6 months will be a very difficult task. Your diet will need to drastically change, and energy expenditure increase too. As above, swimming might be a good idea. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it is pretty unrealistic I would have thought.
Looks like it will be very achieable in that case. Good luck. I need to do the same.
Edit: Just downloaded the app. Says I am only allowed 1600 calories per day and I will loose 4.5kg by october and that is assuming 1hr of activity 3 times a week...
Do I need to record everything for it to work?

11.5st and 6ft tall?
You must be very thin, that must be to skinny surely.
Depends what you want to achieve. Those are my "stats" too when I'm not in full training. Racing weight is about 10.5st but then I'm a competitive distance runner so not "normal" (especially in the UK You must be very thin, that must be to skinny surely.

What about swimming as low (knee) impact exercise?
That was my first thought too. Swimming may help with the knee problem too.pete a said:

My aim was 12 stone, as I thought anything less would be too thin. You must be very thin, that must be to skinny surely.
Now at 11.5 stone, I still have a lot to go. I have a belly still, but most of the rest of my fat has gone (at least to a point where I'm happy). I reckon 11 stone and I'll have lost the majority of my belly.
The low weight is due to bugger all muscle.
I'm 6ft tall and just under 11.5st.
I'm currently working out to lose 'the belly' which sort of appeared from nowhere as soon as I turned 40. I will stay around the same weight, or maybe gain a few pounds, as I'm doing weights as well as cardio.
Reason for weights is I know that it's a sure fire way to boost my metabolism which is a massive help when trying to reduce your body fat percentage - that and also eating (healthily) smaller meals more often - I can be terrible for eating one huge meal a day. The wife calls me a snake!

I like that site. I have lost 9lbs in 2.5 weeks from calorie counting and light exercise. Be good to have something to track it properly as I tend to eat too little when I am dieting.Firefoot said:

It does get a bit obsessive 'logging' your food and calories, but it is also interesting to see what calories/fat are in certain foods which has surprised me.The phone app with barcode scanner is good too if you have and android or iphone.

Yes it does seem like it can become an obsession and the only way to do it. Nice it tells you calories for a any length of walk at reasonable speed. nifty. The phone app with barcode scanner is good too if you have and android or iphone.
Presently I only can have 900 more calories. But with a long walk this evening that should put me up to 1400 and keep me on target.
