protein shakes-keeping them down
Discussion
I've recently started using promax lean to help shift the last couple of pounds and get a bit leaner, but I've noticed once I have a shake I tend to fill very full, almost to the point of wanting to vomit-but I've never actually got that far!
Is this normal when using protein shakes?

I've had this feeling on myprotein products, bsn and maximuscle, so at a guess it could be too big a portion!
I've kept with maximuscle purely as its a tad easier to get as most holland and barrets sell it
Ridiculously priced though!!! Why don't you buy online unless you're well off enough to buy it in which case I'll shut up!I've kept with maximuscle purely as its a tad easier to get as most holland and barrets sell it

I'm only using it to help me shift the last bit of fat and help me get a bit leaner - and my younger sister works there so I get a bit off the rrp! If I didn't I would buy online! KENZ said:
Sorry guy's. I wouldnt drink that rubbish. You really don't need that much protein in your diet as your body can only absorb small quantities.
Depends on how big you are. If you want to maintain or increase muscle mass you need 1.5g of protein for each kilo of body weight. It's hard to achieve this if you are over 100kg just from normal diet. I would agree that the recommended doses on the tubs are silly, but then they would put that on there so you take more than you need and then go and buy more.

My tip would be to mix with soy milk - won't make you feel bloated like cows milk and will be much nicer than with water.
That won't make a difference... If you have a slight lactose intolerance, the lactose in Whey Protein will cause stomach upset.I used to use Whey when I started training, but eventually just felt bloated and sick. What with getting into crossfit and upping the intensity of my workouts, the bloated feeling was a big problem.
Whey also gave me the squits.
I've recently switched to Pea Protein isolate and getting great results without any of that nasty bloating or stomach upset. It doesn't exactly taste like a Mcdonalds milkshake, but then I reckon if you're expecting that you need to man up some

It's bloody cheap, and the amino acid profile is much better than that of whey.
Soy Protein has high levels of Estrogen in it... stuff that gives women tits. You don't really want too much of that in your system!

I use this stuff - http://www.gasparinutrition.com/products/myofusion...
Doesn't really bloat me at all but I don't go by their recommended amounts. On workout days I have one scoop with water after the workout and one scoop mixed with milk at bed time. My diet is monitored.
On cardio days just one scoop with water afterwards.
Also, while I use a blender, It's mixed only for a few seconds. If you blend it too much then it gets very aerated which does bloat you up (and makes you fart like a trooper as well
).
Btw - the MyoFusion stuff is by far the best tasting stuff I've had. It's actually very nice!
