Broke down in Southern France !

I've had to leave her at a recovery place near Agen.
Bad misfire started when I came to leave a service station on the A62.
Thanks to the ADAC and their French colegues, my p&j will be transported bbCk to the UK while they have fixed me up with a rental.
Was rather gutted yesterday.
Still could be worse. I bought a Chimaera while I was away which is waiting for me for when I get back on Thursday.
(still hard to raise a smile this morning).

Think you made the right decision to send the car back to the UK to be fixed. I broke down just north of Milan in my Tamora a few years back. Got the car transported back to a TVR specialist in Monza to have the clutch repaired while we had a week in Lake Garda. However, I'm sure once the garage had my car they knew they had my over a barrel and charged me an absolute fortune to replace the clutch. Still lesson learnt, wont do it again!!!
That's a bummer Tony - assume that was you "spotted" in Escala last week ? Looked a bit clean though !
Seen your Chimie and it looks great value - need to get those Beach buggy rear tyres sorted on it though. Hope the Tuscan is a simple fix

The French recovery guy sId "I ain't touching it, we'll let the ADAC know to ship her back to the UK."
Yes that was me in L'Escala
Wife took the Mickey about me washing the car on holiday.
Called Ian at TorqueRVT and will let all know what the problem is.
ADAC in Germany ( always excellent) and the French office have been great.
Called me regularly with info and rental details. Latest call this morning was to check 'ground clearance' for the transport details !!! Very thorough.
Beach buggy tyres ? I'll have to stop buying unseen !
Hi Uwe, I had some top up oil in the boot
didn't even have a socket to get the bonnet off.
Wanted enough space to get the roof off while traveling.
PAin has subsided. The Peugot rental doing 6l /100 may be helping
although the road surfaces on the French west coast are so smooth I'm aching for the Tuscan.

although the road surfaces on the French west coast are so smooth I'm aching for the Tuscan.My tuscan broke down in Rouen couple of years ago, it eventually turned up at home,with a thick covering of dust on a v flash transporter some 2 weeks later.
I have to admit i shoved it into the garage where it stayed for 6 months (complete with dust and Lemans stickers) untill i eventually cleaned it off, destickered and trailered it into Power where it was diagnosed with a knackered big end and ended up with a full rebuild.
I knew from the loud 'clacking' noise coming from the engine that it was a bad one.
When the french recovery chap came he had been told to take the car to a garage to have it checked out. I was trying to explain in my v poor french that the engine must not be started and was all specialist stuff.
He was passing this on to the recovery company and obviously getting shouted at (in french)
I imitated the 'clack clack' sound (to much hysterical laughter from my mates!) which he passed on as a 'Click click@
Non non a 'clack clack' i explained so he changed his noise description to the bint on the phone.
By this point my mates were crying with laughter (b
ds)
And then as the car disapeared on the back of his lorry the alarm went off causing even more merriment at my expense.
Have to say that tho the car was v dusty there was not a scratch or mark onit so well done to the recovery team. Car was insured thro Manning.

Yes, I was a little supprised that the French recovery man, an indipendant Puegot specialist said he wasnt going to touch it and told the ADAC ove the phone. The ADAC also didnt hesitate but to say they would send her direct to the UK specialist (thats you Ian
). Maybe thats because this is the third time the poor ADAC have shipped a Tuscan back to the UK for me.
The ADAC have said about 3 weeks so I'll be away when it arrives.

Its been geting better with the work Ian has been doing and I was very happy during the holiday.
Didnt get up to any Autobahn speeds as I didnt go as far east as Germany. Save that test for next year now.
Just to update, the ADAC say my car will be in the UK Wednesday or Thursday this week

Better start saving again, hope its not too expensive.
Just bought that Chimaera so been spending on that this last week. Nice drive to Germany in it yesterday.

Dont worry, Ian's tackle is / are safe. He was working on the Chimaera for me.
Nice drive to Germany yesterday. Started geting to know the new car although I was gentle.
Definitely need new tyres all round though.
Safe travels this week.

Not louder yet but my Wife complained it was too quiet so its only a matter of time.
