Not sure if the taxation laws still apply but I do a lot of miles and will get stung for co car tax if I drive a co provided vehicle, currently it's a car allowance. I'll be self employed soon and wanted to provide myself with a co vehicle and waste lots of co money 'fixing' any lack of power or handling issues wink It just needs 2 front seats and probably needs to officially be a van. Any thoughts?

2.4 TDCi transit can go to 180bhp-ish. The 3.2 a fair bit more i would think but I think that engine's only available in the "jumbo" rolleyes

VW T5 can go to about 190bhp.

You won't need a budget for tuning if you buy an Astramax.

Just looking on vw page, top-of-the-line T5 makes 180bhp as standard.

Quite a small van though.

I expect a 1.9 CDTI Astra Van will feel a bit more modern than an MG ZR or 206 and they also produce a 'Sports' version.

You say you are going self-employed, will that be through a limited company or as a sole trader? Makes a lot of difference.

Astra van will take the 2.0 Vxr motor - not really the point of a van though.

Old shape transit used to be available with a 2.0pinto lump and as a result a 2.0 cosworth yb will fit with virtually no mods needed

It was along those lines I was thinking as it doesn't have to carry a load other than my fat arse.

Berlingo with a 3.0 V6 lump in it should surprise a few people.

A classic impreza wagon converted and re-registered as a van, unlimited potential and reasonably comfortable perhaps.

If it's a Ltd company you will still get stung for the very same company car tax. Best way is to own it privately unless you are using it exclusively for work, i.e. no private use whatsoever. Check with your accountant.

Pretty sure it is a complete XJ220 underneath, not just an engine!
