Hi,

Probably been asked a few times before, sorry if it has but I can’t find much on it.

The other week, I had an "encounter" with a wet greasy island.
Keeping the story short (and less embarrassing), my 4.3 is currently in for some repairs and a respray.

I have been toying with the idea of a headlight conversion whilst it’s being done, either twin/Tuscan style or clear covers.

I know it’s a personal taste sort of thing but I really like the look of the clear covers e.g. http://www.tvrpowersbodyshop.com/product/chimaera-...

What do lot think?, I quite like to keep things original but I do think this conversion looks seriously cool.
Also is it likely to detract from future resale value/desirability?

Regards

Rich

All i know is its going to make you poorer by £635 plus vat which is a lot of money for two lights..The two sealed beam units only cost about £20 each..

Go for the Lupo Headlight conversion, they look like they belong.

If your insurance is paying the £635 + VAT, then why not?

I think it looks great

But standard lights aren't sealed beam and may not cost £600 but do cost bit more than £20 each scratchchin

had the TVR Power job done recently. Really refreshes the car, looks much more purposeful.

The £635 includes HiDs btw.

I can see at night now - major improvement

ETA - don't expect it to have a negative effect on resale, bearing in mind it was standard from 2001..

thx - first time i saw it was on a silver car, later on a yellow one assure you it looks great on all colours. It makes the car look more aggressive and streamlined from all angles.

ETA http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3089870.htm

i knew i'd seen another silver one advertised..

yikes Bloomin eck Rich. So sorry to hear that. Glad your ok bud. Did exactly the same thing with my old 400SE so I know how you feel. Hope the repair comes out good whatever you choose. thumbup

P.S. I prefer original look & upgraded under the skin myself. Whenever I see a car with modded front I always think 'that's had a whack then' scratchchin

The gaps either side. Whenever I see a car with wrong gaps I always think 'that's had a whack then' wink

To the OP - I think the mod looks brill and much more original than the Lupo conversion. Not sure how they work, if they steam up or what you do about headlamp deflectors for foreign travel etc but I cannot see it affecting resale values negatively in any way.

OOOooo such a hard decision!!, Wyn I would usually completely agree with keeping it original but I do think the covers do look just "right",

I may have to flip a coin, although I’m sort of hoping the covers will come out on top.

Looking forward to getting it back whatever I decide, at least its in good hands.

Will keep you informed on progress.

yes either that or .......... nothing 30 minutes and a couple 13mm spanners wouldn't cure thumbup what my brother often refers to as a spit & polish owner hehe no offence PWD95(nice shade of blue there) wink only the glazed over E type look does it for me on the Chim whistle

Clear covers look right and do not detract from resale value as they were factory spec on the final cars. Speed Six headlights look wrong though.

Only IMO of course. wink

Just to clarify, the Blue Chim is the one I sold to Richard. Just trying to tempt him to go original, the way I like em. thumbup

Covers look great, but that look was meant for the Griff. Chimp should have it's own DNA/Character.........

But that's just me... Good luck Rich, whatever you choose, really. thumbup

P.S. I do servicing, head gaskets, chassis treating, detailing, diagnosing, replacing various parts etc. Not just a spit & polisher. thumbup
