i am fitting twin roll over hoops and need to know the height from highest part on body between roll hoops to the highest top of roll hoop ie if you put a straight edge on top of roll hoops then measure down to central highest point between roll hoops on the body. thanks in antisipation for your help
As an ex part time scrutineer (many years ago) we spent a lot of time at the startline looking to see who had their head above the top of the roll bar!!!!
A correct bar might not look right but losing the top 5 inches of your head isn't pretty either.
If you are using the car for any form of competition, remember to take the helmet into account to.

Having built two AK's I simply put a spirit level from the top of the windscreen to the rear scuttle above the roll bar mounting holes.
As an assistant holds the spirit level horizontal I measure the distance from the mounting plates in the boot to the sprit level and I then know howe much to trim off each roll hoop leg.
Remember to drill and tap the roll bar mountings to fit roll bar retaining bolts (unrestrained roll hoops have been known to go missing at car shows)and if you do any competition at all the drivers hoop will at the very least require a diagonal brace to the passenger's footwell.
Unfortunately this very brace can cause some nasty arm fractures in a road crash.
Unbraced roll hoops are supposed to be useless in a roll ( although they are quite meaty in a proper chassis mounting) but anything is better than relying on a chrome on brass aka "chocolate" windscreen surround.
HTH
Cheers,
Tony
