Colour matching

I currently own a 97/P 4.0 Chim in Halcyon Midas (sort of pearlescent yellow) which has picked up quite a few stone chips on its 24k journey. Rather more sadly it's now picked up a larger front ding around an inch square low down on the driver's side front wing, courtesy of a random brick.

I've been told it will be very difficult to get a good colour match on any repair, even for a pro, because this colour is a multi layer paint process. Is this true and does anyone have any experience of this problem? (There are loads of Chimps and Griffs in this colour.)

I've read several threads which imply good results from the TVR touch-up kits provided you give them the right paint code. Is this something easily done DIY and is there anyone out there who's tried it with this particular colour?

I'm trying to avoid a major re-spray job for what is basically a pretty small repair. Also keen to know if you can get good results this way on larger areas before deciding to look at headlight upgrades...

If the paint was mixed in the first place, it can be mixed again.

Speak to Jon at Ewelme Coachworks as if anyone can do it they can...

I know of an owner who has had the headlight conversion done on his car, same colour. Paint was, I understand initially problematic, but the final job is a perfect colour and texture match.

May be worth doing a front end respray to deal with stone chips, brick repair and headlight conversion in one.
