Hello all

I've never been in a position to renew a policy, have always up to now cancelled and shopped elsewhere.

This year however I've continued with Elephant. Called them up and managed to get my renewal down by 50 quid, sent me a new certificate and letter explaining my payment and that I need to do nothing etc, payment due on 12/09/11 (today).

However nothing has of yet been taken from my account, checked ATM machine as well as online banking with Barclays. Is it supposed to have been taken today precisely, or can it take several days to be actually taken from your account?

Will ring them tomorrow but just wondered if this is normal or not and if its affecting my insurance for today / until the money goes out?

Can take several days. Admiral (same company as Elephant) didn't take payment until four days after my renewal date.

You can check your vehicle's insured status on AskMid although, if there was any doubt whatsoever, I'd want verbal confirmation from an adviser.

Thanks for the responses, checked AskMID and alls fine on there- probably just taking a while as you said, like Admiral. Thanks a lot

Payments with elephant tend to clear 48-72 hours after the renewal, it's set on a delay in case a PH forgets they want to change pay details or if a policyholder didn't want to renew but forgets etc etc, saves from having to refund which costs money.
The insurance is active continously though.
