Putting a CBR 400cc motorbike engine in a go kart.
Discussion
Hello all, ive bought a go kart with a difference! Its basically a miniture Formula 1 car lookalike so its alot heavier than a normal kart. At the moment its got a monkey 140cc engine in it, but its crying out for something with abit more poke. Id love to drop a cbr 400 engine in but i have never atempted anything like this before (i love a challenge). Id basically like any information on how to do this? (more like an idiots guide). Id like to know how hard it would be to mount, and exatly the method to do this? Will i need to change any sprockets? Will i be able to route the clutch and gear selector on or near the steering wheel? Is there such a person or company that will re route the exhaust? Any help will be much appriciated!
Bike engines can be a bit of a git to fit in cars because the mountings are mostly on the back. Have a google for Formula Student and FSAE for examples of how this can be done in small formula type cars.
I wouldn't have thought CBR400s are the fastest things in the world but I'd still aim to lower the gears for the kart a bit.

You would be better of fitting a 250 2 stroke motor cr,kx etc same power as cbr 400 and way less hassle or go gor a 450 single crf,yzf 60 bhp at the wheels is easy on stock internals and loads of revs !! , cbr 400 motors don't like no airbox and most will have Been owned by potless teenager who will never have cone valve clearances etc , if you really want a four cylinder go for a 600
