hi everybody
ive carried out a engine conversion on my BMW 318iS
its come to the time where i need to change my documents and since the DVLA has moved the goal posts on whats requiried as proof i need to get an engineers report carried out on the conversion.

could anyone point me in the right direction as to who would do this sort of thing in the Inverness area

i already spoke with the AA who put me on to another company that does engineers reports and they told me it would cost £195+ vat and that they wouldnt come to Inverness to do it

im struggling to find anyone local to do it which is why ive come to the great wisdom that is the scotland section

thanks in advance

I may be wrong but I think any garage can do it.

ill give the cove a shout and see what he says to it. At the moment the car has no tax, mot or insurance so shifting it is going to be a bit of a pain also i dont have acces to a trailer either

Any garage at all can do it.

They just have to check it's safe and not falling to bits and the parts used are up to standard.

Even a hand written note with the garage's address etc will do it.

Crossways Garage nr Kingmills did an insurance valuation for me (not the same I know) but it might be worth going in a speaking to them or RM Brown at the Carse have always been helpful.

I imagine they will all charge a fee as they do have to spend time checking your work and take receipts/photos with you so they can see what you have done.

hey guys
thanks for the info
i phoned the DVLA yesterday to get a definitive answer and after a couple of yarns i was told i could take the car to a garage, get them to check the car over and write a letter on headed paper confirming the engine numbers and size then that would be sufficient to get the V5 changed

thanks again
