Good to see Ford are releasing a proper fast Fiesta again. Okay it's just a concept but it'll be in production soon enough, looking very similar.

Autocar said:
The Fiesta’s class-leading chassis has always given the impression that it can handle more power. At the heart of the front-drive concept sits a 178bhp, 177lb ft 1.6-litre, four-cylinder Ecoboost petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The most powerful factory Fiesta at present is the 132bhp 1.6 in the special-edition Fiesta S1600.

The Fiesta ST concept can cover 0-62mph in less than seven seconds and reach 137mph, compared with the Renault Clio 200’s 6.9sec and 141mph. Ford claims CO2 emissions will be lower than 140g/km and the fuel economy figure will be “attractive”.

Styling inspiration is taken from the Fiesta RS WRC car and the Focus ST production car. It has a large, trapezoidal grille with a honeycomb mesh, a large rear diffuser, twin exhaust system, 17in alloy wheels and a full ST body kit. It is finished in a vibrant Molten Orange paint, a colour also seen in the interior, which features Recaro sports seats.

Ford claims that the concept’s handling - described as “dynamic and competent” - has been influenced by Fiesta competition cars that run in the WRC, X Games and rallycross championships.

I imagine this also previews a new facelift for the whole range, too. Looks great IMO.

That front end looks nasty, the EcoBoost lump in a fiesta should be good if the new focus is anything to go by.

I think that looks great, except the front grill. The performance figures are pretty good too, but my guess is it will be around the £17000 mark, which is too expensive.

I'd rather have this than that gross new Focus they're going to release.

Still seems to be lacking something though. Blue with a side stripe should sort that out.

I hoped for more power frown 178hp from a 1.6 is impressive thought!

Looks awful. Shame really, I was hoping for something vaguely resembling the Fiesta WRC cars, they look fantastic.

MINI and Vauxhall have been doing it for a while now.

And Honda were doing it NA, in the 90's.
I'm not going to pretend I know anything about ecoboost engines frown

Are they turbo or N/A?

I wonder if Ken Block's Fiesta has a 1.6?

I still can't believe he drives a fiesta.

Yeah, it's turbocharged.

I thought ecoboost kinda gave it away wink
I take back my previous comment. I read 178 and presumed it was N/A!! Even Vauxhall extracted more power than this 4 years ago laugh

Front end looks very much like the Focus ST that has just been previewed @ Frankfurt.

Here are some real pictures of it.

IMO it's still decent looking. Not real change, and doesn't look as good as those computer images but it is still decent.

Looks new Jag XF-ish at the front but all these modern cars look very bulbous at the front end. Not keen on the new Ford front grille - I think they've made the Focus worse front and back.

Reminds me of a Mitsubishi if you ask me;

And those wheel arches (and wheels) look a couple of sizes too small IMHO, especially in the side on view.
