Hello All,

I was driving my car today on the motorway when it started losing power and blowing smoke.

The Engine Systems Fault light came on but I managed to crawl into work.

Any ideas please?

I'm thinking new turbo but someone else has mentioned the EGR valve?

Oil Level OK and no scuzz on the filler cap, water level OK.

Please help if you can, I'm getting RAC out later and will need to tow it to a garage in South Cambridge.

Thanks

EGR valve is the likely candidate for this. It happened to mine a while ago although it didn't blow out any smoke (from what I noticed). Did it seem fine the next time you used it until you done a few miles? if so the EGR valve is looking guilty to me.

Thanks for the reply.

RAC fixed a loose cable into the EGR and cleared the fault codes.

But, one fault code came back:

P00001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Open/Circuit

The car drives fine until I get into the high rev range when it sometimes chokes and holds back.

Waiting to hear from the garage as to what they think and the quote.

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator on the commonrail is goosed. Not a difficult fix, nor expensive.
