C Class W203 Mobile Phone Devices - A Simple Connection?

Hi all, im new to this forum (but not the site) so no doubt my question has already been covered in the past… Anyways, after owning (or the wife did) a C Class W202 for 3 years, she sold that for what turned out to be a car from hell for 18 months, she is now back to the old faithful Merc, this time a C class W203 of which we collected last night. After the initial looking and admiring, she looked a little closer inside to find an array of buttons on the steering and dashboard for answering a mobile phone… For her current phone is this doable? Or does she need a specific phone or is a link to the car a simple Bluetooth connection?

How old is the C? Which radio/Comand unit is fitted? There are some aftermarket kits that link in to the steering wheel, but they're generally not cheap.
There might be some useful info here.

Even if the head unit has bluetooth it doesn't work.

If the car has been pre-wired for a mobile phone (it was £600 option so very 50/50 whether it was ordered) then it'll have connector in a tray under the centre arm-rest lid - I think only the pre-wired cars have that shallow tray otherwise there's just the single deep cubby hole.

The buttons on the head unit and steering wheel are there by default.

Depends on the age of your car. I have a 2006 model and have fitted a Viseeo unit which fits in the arm rest and allows you to access the phone via bluetooth through the head unit and steering wheel.

Loads of them on ebay for around £130.00

Many thanks for the replies - at least i dont need to spend endless hours in the car scanning for a bluetooth connection thats most likely not there!!! in answer to a couple of the questions that came back;
