I am a fan of the Focus, we had it as a family car.

Recently I have owned a Audi TT and a S2000. I sold the S2K because I need space for my little one and the other half ;( I am considering a blue Focus RS, E92 M3 or something thing a E-Class coupe.

The RS is the best value, i.e the insurance is £700, road tax is half the M3 and also it will depreciate less. However the M3 is an M3 ;-) The E-class is my sensible got no balls option.

After speaking to a friend and he is really quite against them due to the image! Is that what people think of the RS?

Seriously, don't concern yourself with things like this. It's a great car, and you've done your sums. Loud green doesn't help things if you are concerned about image, I love the blue so had to go for it when I had mine. Aside from this, you've just gotta love flared arches and 5-cyl soundtrack etc. Great steer too (and thats' from me, that came from an R26.R before)

I would say yes and no. I personally thought it looked ace and have toyed with the same deliberation a couple of times. That was until 3 days ago when I saw a green one with the worst aftermarket wheels possible that instantly reduced the car from semi desirable to chavtastic.

Blue with silver wheels would be my only choice as its as discreet as the RS gets.

I think so.Unless you are over 35.Then it would look like a wise considered choice, being as it is a fast, entertaining and practical car.

Oh dear. I dont think i have seen a chav recently driving a £30k car.

Or does chav these days mean anything thats not german and styled by the elderly?

RS are sub £20k now wink

I would probably buy a blue RS with silver wheels. Definitely nothing else from the colour options!

Some say a Skoda is a Lamborghini with just a Skoda badge wink

Joking aside I would have thought a Ford is a better car than a volvo? Better handling and performance? Anyway, I do not know much about the Volvo and ford connection. I know Volvo used the ford st engine in a sports c30 they produced recently... Clearly they share engines.

I will wait till Christmas before I buy wink

I'm 38, not remotely chavvy, and drive a green Mountune 350 version with black wheels.

I love it, as does my 75 yr old father.

Incidentally, did you know they are front wheel drive?

My dad is 56 today and certainly not a chav.

He has a white RS and an RS500.

The last few posts just show what a silly thread this is.

A chavs car is one that is poorly modified or driven by a chav, nothing more.

A car for chavs ? When I tell you that the project engineer on the Focus RS Mk 2 was the same man who engineered the Group B RS200, and conceived the original Escort RS Cosworth, does that make you feel better about the car's pedigree ?

The green and the white mk2's look a bit chavvy. And the interior of the mk1 is sadly a bit 'styled by Halfrauds'. But who cares, really? Why not just drive what you want and enjoy it?

The new RS's are great. Go for one!

Don't think the chavs can afford the £30k price tag, wait 10 - 15 years until they are way cheaper then they'll be plently of chavs cruising around in them.

Had my green mk2 Focus RS since new. Im over 35 so too old to be a chav!

Fantastic handling and performance which will scare cars that are twice or three times the price.

A typical Ford RS then ..... brilliant! biggrin

I've had my standard green RS for 10 months and love it. It's my every day car and never ceases to put a smile on my face.

I'm over 40 and would never class myself as a chav. I couldn't care less what people think, I bought it because of the handling, performance and fun factor. It gets alot of positive attention.

Mine's fully loaded with every extra, including the black leather recaros. For me it had to be the green, but it's not to everyones taste. Plus it's still a focus, so has enough room for a family and a decent size boot.

It's even better when someone pulls up alongside me and they realise it's a woman driving!

Go test drive one, it's a great car, you'll love it!
