I had fitted approx 5 years ago a set of Steve Heaths drop links, which have been a great enhancement to handling.

I had these professionally fitted (along with another job) at a TVR Indy. During routine maintenance i noted the screws fitting to the chassis were looser than i would have thought.

So the question is what is the correct torque setting for these links? Should they be tight or designed to be low torque items in their threadlocks? I initially tweaked them up slightly although now i seem to have some audible cracking and rattles coming from the drop links since - unless i'm paranoid. Handling seems unaffected.

Any help appreciated.

You dont mention if they are front or rear.

I didnt see a reference to torque settings.

Fitted front ones recently worked to these torque recommendations based on the nut size:

Hope it helps, also checked after 100 miles to see if there had been any change and there was no noticeable difference in torque setting

Need to fit the rears when I get chance......

If they are rears take a careful look at the part of the wishbone they bolt through. The earlier cars (and some later ones) had a weakness there which would result in some fatigue cracking. Fairly easy to fix but could be the source of your strange noises.

+1 certainly worth checking, both of mine broke in half so just stuck on new wishbones
