Altruism in the UK
Discussion
Whilst giving blood, or actually eating crisps and drinking dreadful coffee afterwards, a chap on our table said that this country was the only one in Europe that doesn't pay donors. If so then this would negate the oft-quoted suggestion on this forum that the UK is f**ked. Mind you, even if others don't charge it still shows this country, that is the people in it, are still community minded.
So does anyone know if donors is other countries are paid?
Further there is talk about the service being privetised. It would appear that altruism is seen as a product that can be sold.

62 countries according to the WHO as at 2008.
How this makes up for the societal decline seen in the UK, and denied by some, I am not quite sure, but I'm glad you enjoyed your cup of tea.
