Ok two....

Windscreen replacement- Is it DIY'able or would i need to get Gavin to do it? Last windscreen i did was on an E30 BMW....

Cambelt replacement- How much? indy obviousley...or difficulty/French awkwardness rating to do it myself.

Does your insurance not cover screen replacement? I would imagine the screen alone would be more than the excess.

If not I would still get someone in to do it, a badly fitted screen can cause all sorts of problems.

E30 BMW, DIY: yes. Kangoo no. The screen is glazed directly to the car using a specific Polyurethane adhesive.

Just had belt and tensioner on my 57 plate diesel done for a little over £200 Inc vat. He didn't say if it was particularly difficult. I reckon it is DIY if you know what you are about, but do recall reading something about " keyless" (?) Renault engines being a pain, not sure if that's mine.
Ps , the belt that came off looks brand new, but the tensioner was worn In the mechanics opinion.
This was at 76000 mls, cos I was nervous, it's a great van.

1.9d is fairly easy - you can use 2 8mm drill bits as substitutes for the proper timing pins. No idea about the newer 1.6td

With the 1.5dci, make sure you clean out the EGR valve, they get clogged up quite quickly, cut power and make fuel economy drop quite dramatically.

They're about £140-150 for the part plus fitting.

But they're easy enough to remove and clean, there's a few video's on youtube.

The same as mine - 1998 S, 1.9 diesel. I had the cambelt/tensioner done when I got it in 2009 and it cost £240 all in.

How have you found yours on fuel?

Does it manage over 40 knocking around?

My Y reg 1.9 does an easy mid 50's locally and more on a long trip. Great vans.

I'd get a quote on the windscreen before doing it through insurance. I've just had mine done on a year 2000 Astra van & it only came to £114 including VAT. For that money I didn't think it was worth going through the insurance.
