Have been giving this some thought and have decided that it might just be La Zagaleta development near Benahavis in Spain. You've got a gated and secure community, great weather, high-end car dealerships down the road in Marbella/Malaga, and your drive opens onto what might be the greatest driving road in Europe (the road up to Ronda).

At the top of that road is this,

the Ascari Race Resort. Plus you have some amazing driving roads around Grazalema and Zahara.

I'm struggling to think of many places that would touch it for the car enthusiast with the requisite funds. I was thinking of the Ring at first but then got put off by the weather, the food, the charity chains of bangers and the Chermans.

I'd rather eat out near the ring than most of the places I've been in Spain.

Nice place and probably fun. An apartment at the ring would suit me though

I was considering the west coast of Scotland for the best driving roads in Europe and then figured the food and the weather were worse than the Ring. wink

In the US thee are a couple of tracks with apartments and houses contained within the boundaries and where you can thrash you car(s) on the facility daily. Nothing new here. You can easily buy a place near the 'ring in Germany if that is your thing or even the tax free island called the Isle of Man.

Be nice to have a second home somewhere like that for when you get sick of the UK weather. I wouldn't want to live in Spain though. Plenty of options to buy something suitable here if you have the money then get the PH factor sorted out. 20 car purpose built garage and a perimeter private estate test track road for starters.

I'd say the Isle of Man would be a decent petrolhead address surely?

I know someone who lives in Zagaleta, last time I was there they had a 599, also an Eagle E-type. Very smokin

I take it you're not from around the WOS area? Driving down the street outside my work, you'd be forgiven for thinking you were driving down Sarajevo high street. Generally speaking, the roads around here are a mess, and have been getting steadily worse for years.
Porsche found us a very pleasant route for the Panamera event last week.

An early morning thrap up to Ronda in a 599, stop up by the old bullring for a coffee and a newspaper and then a burble back down the hill? That'd do the trick.

Any idea where it was?
Let me think. Started at Achnagairn House hotel near Inverness, headed out on the A832 to Gairloch, followed that all the way round the coastal loop and back to the A835, then heading back to Achnagairn. Very little traffic, decent surfacing and suited the Panamera very well.

Standing in the petrol station at Clackett Wood services eating a Ginster's Buffet Bar while watching a dozen Eastern Europeans climb out of the back of a truck and sprint blindly in all directions is, to many, the very acme of motoring.

That would be Southern California with awesome canyons roads within 20 minutes from the center of Los Angeles, whether inland, through forests, or by the ocean. Gotta love it!
