Sorry, something's not quite right...

I read all the terms and conditions and under cancellation it says the insurer may cancel the policy at any time with 7 days notice. Also, you lose 20% of your premium + 8% per month if this happens. So basically the scam is they cancel in the first month and just pocket the cash I suppose. Is that even legal?

Yeah there's some negative reviews there, to be fair you can probably turn up negative reviews of any company you search for though. They're a legit company who can only operate within the law and the FSA rules, it looks like their service may leave a lot to be desired, but at £1000 cheaper than the nearest competitor I think I'd be prepared to chance it!
Either that or keep searching, I recommend Greenlight Insurance and Flux's.
Yeah, being 18 does that to your quotes.
Insurance is such a total pile of bulls
t. If they at least provided a decent service for these extortionate fees it would be bearable, but condition-less cancellation clauses with no refunds - refusal to continue policies after a write-off - and of course, it's mandatory so they have a captive audience they can f
k with as much as they want and there's nothing you can do about it. Really grinds my gears...

No online quotes
I hate phoning up insurers, because it invariably ends in "too young, get lost" :/
Brokers rarely have online quotes in my experience. At least the good ones.

For a Porsche you need a specialist. Have you tried the owners club and their specialist insurers?

Because the risk being insured isn't the damage to your vehicle - it's the risk probability of the damage you cause to others in an accident...
Yes, I know, but I was making a different point to the usual "WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY £1000000! My car is worth a tenner!" nonsense. If my car was worth more, they wouldn't invariably write it off and cancel the policy. It's the possibility of crashing in the first month, having to make a claim, and then having to take out ANOTHER insurance policy on a new car afterwards while still paying the full year for the first policy that worries me. zaphod42 said:

All the companies that apparently used to insure young drivers on classics/specialist have a "no under 25's" rule now. I phoned up a few before giving up in disgust...For a Porsche you need a specialist. Have you tried the owners club and their specialist insurers?

Just a thought but why not content yourself with car with a lower insurance rating for a few years and build up a no claims discount. Meanwhile you could save up...
No wait 18. Never mind.
Because a 1.2 Corsa is £1400 and I'm willing to pay the £400 difference for the chance to not drive a horrible little tin can powered by a hairdryer. No wait 18. Never mind.

Ah ok. I thought some enlightened ones still existed. Are you the only driver or is it multiple (genuine) users?Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
