How much would you expect to pay for pads and discs already (including replacement of the pad wear sensor) at an indy?

Just want to get a ballpark figure in mind before phoning around?

I'd go to GSF find out how much a set of discs and pads are, add 1 hours labour and you'll have pretty close to what you should expect to pay.

from memory a good pair of discs would be around £40-£45 from motorspares, pads £30, sensor if needed about £5.

Its only an hours job, so £75 for the bits, + labour depends where you go approx £30 + markup on parts.

£150 max. any more and you are being ripped off!

Can you do it your self? its easy

For reference to Stealer prices, when I had new discs and pads all round fitted to my E46 330i in April it was approx £470 at a BMW dealership.

Main dealer will suply and fit on 6 pots E46 for £255, using an indie and ECP parts I would guess your looking at £150-180 all in.

I think I paid £250 all round last time from the same guy. Maybe the same again wouldn't be too bad.

I thought it was just front discs and pads at first. But if its all four corners £250 is a fair price:-D

Oops, 'all round' corrected to 'already' on my predictive text!

Cheers.

If it is all round then probably round the £250-300 mark from an indie, main dealer would want £474.

just changed my front pads recently. They came with the sensor from ECP (bought on one of their 25% discount days) they come with the front sensor.
Can't remember the price but around £50 then discs should be £70 ish plus fitting. Fitting them myself wasn't too bad. Probably save yourself £100 or more doing it yourself.

I've just replaced the rear discs, pads and handbrake shoes on mine. Came to just over £100 from ECP for Pagid items.

Prices will vary so don't automatically expect a set price with an indy, brakes all round (discs, pads, sensors and handbrake shoes) just cost me £320 for the parts alone- that's including about £100 off due to a Euro Car Parts discount code so you're talking around £420 without a discount offer.

Buy your own brakes from Euro Car Parts when they have a deal on. If you're lucky they might accidentally give you an extra set of brakes pads for free...biggrin
