Thieving Bl**dy Insurance Company!!
Discussion
This is part rant part looking for advice...
Quote Mart had insured my car for the last year (May 2010 - May 2011)
My payments were set up on a direct debit, I recieved no notification of a renewel, however do accept that I rather expected that a renewel would automatically take place. What I hadn't anticipated is the huge hike in the Premium. When I checked my bank a/c in June I saw that my monthly payments to them had jumped by nearly THREE TIMES the amount of last years policy. I quickly cancelled the policy and went with a different company.
Today I have received a call from a collections company claiming that Quote Mart are demanding payment of £633.00 for the cancellation of the policy! That's the same amount as my whole premium the year before!
I spoke to Quote Mart this morning to enquire what was going on. I have received no letters from them in the interim asking for payment of the £633.00 and I saw nowhere in there cancellation letters that I would be required to pay a cancellation charge of this nature.
Anyone else had similar problems? Any advice as to how to not pay this...? I am 100% sure that I didn't receive a letter from them informing me that my premium was going to go up at the point of renewel...
Advice welcome...
