Seen quite a few of these today and yesterday.. Wonder if anything is going on.

Saw 2 yesterday go overhead and 1 just now, heard one earlier on too but didn't see it.

They don't look the same as the normal chinooks for some reason, they look wider at the bottom..

The wider looking one is the mk3 version. Just has bigger capacity fuel tanks, hence its wider appearance than the mk2.

not sure about recent activity, but this had an emergency landing in a field around 800 yards from my house on Monday night.

I'm around 10 miles from Odiham so they frequently do low flights late at night and my house shudders every time!

I liuve in Ascot which seems to be a helicopter/light aircraft highway.

Question - if my car or bike made that much noise I'd be done, so why can private aircraft run open exhausts?

I saw three military 'copters flying in formation over Walton last Thursday. Followed by a Chinook 30 minutes later.

Gave them a wave. hehe
