Rear disc not worn on inner side

Hi,

I just failed MOT as both of the rear disc aren't worn on the inner sides. You only see a narrow band with wear the rest is kind of rusty whereas on the outer side (where the wheel is) the discs look great. Any idea what that could be related to ?

Sounds like a caliper problem with strangely the inner ones not working on both sides?

sounds like whoever fitted the pads haven't lined up the lug on the pad with the slot on the piston, is the narrow band of wear on the inner edge of the disc?

Par for the course on griff and Chimp...cementite...rust conversion, hot, cold, hot...brittle material that
will not clean up with the pads.

Pull the disc and get it skimmed and new pads with a proper set up.

The wear is only on the inner part of the disc. The pads seems new.

Do you mean the inboard face of the disk, in whichcase the piston is working but the caliper slider is stuck.
Or do you mean that only part of the disk face is worn, in which case its probably assembled wrong or the disks are very badly worn.

Brake pads not moving freely in the caliper carrier(common) also agree with the other post about the pad pip not being lined up with the piston cut-out(important) for the costs involved just put a set of new discs and pads on there and address the possible causes of failure above

Internal faces of the discs not cleaning up this is common....I can understand the thought that the tang in the piston might not be located correctly, as so leaving the pad canted...that needs checking. Either a reface or disc change and for the price that road pads are pads too.

I think the uneven wear is due to new pads that needs to be run in.

Are the rear disc from Ford - if so which model ?
