Happened to park up next to a brand new Yeti today. Got me thinking given that one could consider the Forester as the original and the Yeti the new boy on the block. Which would you prefer as your compact SUV - new Yeti or used Forester?

Forester every time. Proper 4WD (none of this part-time/2WD-until-it-slips/Hadlex/whatever nonsense), low CoG (so *feels* the same to drive as a normal car) and it's a Subaru (i.e. reputation for being tough and reliable) whereas the other's a VAG car (...).

Doh! From the title I thought it was going to be a picture of a big hairy thing fighting a big man in a check shirt! wobble

It might be a perspective thing but the Forester looks tiny compared to the Yeti.

I was thinking we might get past 10 posts until the parking came up - underestimating the PH members once again!smile

The Yeti for me. For that type of car, a nicer interior, diesel engine and DSG gearbox make the Skoda the winner.

It was - could not get a square on shot - however I still reckon the Yeti looks a tad bigger

Forester.

Yeti's got a slight whiff of pensioner-on-trip-to-garden-centre about it.

Forester for me and who's to say it isn't a diesel too? For 'that type of car' - a fairly rugged capable 4x4, the interior is less important and anything other than a straightforward manual 'box (preferably with low ratio) is not great.

May have to when I get in front of a real computer. Would that be new versus new for a proper like for like?

That shape Forester never had the diesel engine: only the later (current) model.

I can't believe all this support for the Forester. I have had mine for sale for 3 weeks and only taken one phone call. Pistonheads, Autotrader and eBay!

They are great cars. Absolutely bullet proof. Chap at the dealership said they service 200K+ mile cars quite often.
