I'm guessing you meant it to be a thumb up in the heading.

I watched it, quite a few of them seemed to go through a period of being unemployed for years then joining the army. No wonder so many of them quit before finishing basic training.

I watched a bit.

Not ever being in the forces (I was a Scout once) it was ok but I found it a little boring really. Nothing that's not been seen before.

Besides, proper training as we all know is Marine's or Para's. I've seen a few tough young men broken by that training but also seen some surprises. smile

You'd never get me near any training course. No way.

Yeah I noticed that, I assume if you leave school with no quals its a bit of a default option, good on them for trying to do something other than scrounge though, was quite nice to see them get their berets after 5 weeks, you could see the pride in some

I was amazed to hear that after three months they could be in Afghanistan!!Are those lads really ready for that??My heart goes out to them and I wish them well but I think that is too soon. Things must have changed in the Army since my son joined the junior regiment straight from school in 1983.There he did two years training before joining the regular army.By the time he was sent to the first Gulf War he was very well trained.

I thought it was a good program, found it good that they showed the 'breaking' of their spirit with the inspections even though he didnt reckon anything was wrong and the good old ironing lessons smile
