E46 M3 CSL without any hesitation what so ever, the induction howl is sensational, gear change through SMG is just smile enducing and as a car to drive all I hear is great things.

Never driven either, only passengered in a CSL. Simply awesome car. I think you'd need to satisfy yourself you could live with the smg box though. I think I'd go CSL as they are likey to hold their money better and are a touch more rare.

CSL - if not for the absence of depreciation, then for the noise.

I'm pondering the same, but a 996/ CSL not a 993.

That's a no brainer for the CSL (assuming the 996 is not a GT3)

Have you seen the CSL for £20k in the classifieds? Probably a stupid question..

Paul, get along to the ///m beard thread and speak to Olly, he's just bought one and tracked it last week. Was pretty awesome from the passenger seat!

I have been trawling the ads, some good looking cars out there. I do like a 911 though.

CSL for you, but the 993 v CSL isn't quite so easy, neither are going to lose much money though!

I'd have to go for the CSL, well I did.

I was looking at 996 C2's and found that to get a good one I was getting close to CSL money so it was a no brainer, to me the only 996 to have over the CSL is the GT3 RS or maybe a GT2/turbo

I think the appeal of the 993's quite different but overall the performance, noise and detailing on the CSL would mean I'd go for the BMW.

I doubt either will devalue much so why not buy one, keep it for a year or so and then try the other.

The E46 M3 CSL is awesome, so competant and so fun and makes such a nice noise.

I vote for that option, starting with the CSL.

CSL owner, so admittedly biased. If you said GT3 / GT3RS then there would be more debate. If only against the cooking version, then it has to be a CSL...

The problem is the CSL vs. 993 isn't a common comparison - they aren't really similar cars to be honest.

I did love the CSL though - what a car!!

Oh, and remember to do the AP Racing brake upgrade all-round!!
