Drivers side Electric Window

My electric window on the driver's side has suddenly stopped working. Went to work this morning & it was fine. Went back to the car at lunchtime & the window would not function. All other electrics work as normal & never had this problem before. Car is a 99 Mk2 1.8 used as a daily driver.
My initial thoughts are 1.Fuse & 2.Switch. I've taken the switch assembly out this evening but no obvious signs of trouble however the driver's side switch does feel different to normal & passenger side is fine which leads me to think it is a switch problem. Didn't have time in the dark to mess about with fuses so any comments would be more than welcome.

The most common cause of a knackered window is a snapped cable though if that was the issue, you'd still hear the motor working. After that, it could well be the switch. In fact I've just replaced one this week and I know one side can fail while the other works fine. Easy to check with a multi-meter though.
