Collapse of the global financial system.
Discussion
Long expected but possibly closer than it's ever been if the Pundits are to be believed. So if the Euro or Dollar were to collapse we keep being told the shower of st will be hghily unpleasant - but what will that actually mean to Joe Bloggs on the street?
Established scare mongering suggests runs on the banks, panic in the streets, empty supermarkets and a general breakdown in society for a few days. Then order will be restored and the global economy re- benchmarked against the Yuan or Dollar or a new currency I suppose, i.e. all the old debt will be written off and the global financial system restarted. And slowly off we go again. That's an optimistic view ignoring the risk of war etc.
But what would this mean for our pensions, savings, jobs, etc.? Should I get a Euro credit card now and rag it in the hope the euro collapses, what cartridge type is best for rioting peasant? Should I screw or nail the marine ply to the windows?
Please post clear and correct answers to these questions and/or scare be with thrilling alternates of doom I hadn't thought of...

If it does all go tits up, learn chinese. Quickly.
Having been to China a few times and travelled the world extensively I can honestly say this is a complete waste of time especially when you need to be concentrating on basic foraging. The Chinese are learning English - In fact more Chinese are learning Engrish than English people are learning English. Same everywhere else in the world except maybe the hispanic bits. If the Euro collapses then wouldn't each EuroZone country just simply default back to its sovereign currency?
ie. Germany goes back to Deutch Mark, France back to the Franc ?
And then these sovereign currencies would be based on the value of how much of the Euro each country was able to convert?
So if Germany had 'x' Euros tied up in Bonds/gilts then it would be able to convert this back to its own currency and base the Deutch Mark value on this?
I know I'm talking total bollix here but how far of the mark am I?

Im going for mad max scenario but without the motor bikes or Tina Turner, more mountain bikes!! The petrol wont last long, remember how quickly the garages sell out once a bit of snow falls or we get a few leaves on the line, just imagine how quickly it will all go south in a real panic event.
My advice to the OP is to keep a bit of ££ in your wallet for the time being..maybe a few sovereigns wouldnt go a miss. Gold= worldwide currency since the beginning of time. And Mr Heinz is going to be very popular for a while!

I for one will be building up my store of shotguns and cartridges for the inevitable showdown with the roaming hoards of chavs trying to work out how to get their next hit of Kappa tracksuit bottoms and Burberry baseball caps.
If it all goes to hell in a handcart I will just hole up somewhere remote, live off the land and let the rest of the world self destruct.
