I have a fox at the bottom of my garden and last night it attacked on of my cats. Am I allowed to shoot it?

I have a gun sorted and amo just need the green light!

Depends on what the gun is, whether the land is clear for that particular gun and the conditions on your FAC

See if they're prepared to shake paws and make up.

It could be just a misunderstanding.

Might be easier to borrow a big dog - the fox will move out immediately, they're not big on sharing their home with lolloping great hounds.

Is that why Jade Goody never had a problem with them?

I'd call the local RSPCA to check...

I wouldn't. I'd just get on with it.

You could try peeing around the border, apparently this also gets rid of them.

if it's legal to fire the gun and you take reasonable care to ensure you kill it quickly and cleanly, then there are no problems.

You will need a decent gun though - no air rifles!

I'd recommnend a trap cage to trap the fox, then a close range 12 bore. (don't trap it and then relocate to kill it - that's illegal as i understand it)

heavily poisoned meat works as well, and is a bit more clandistine / urban friendly, but you have to be sure that only the fox can get it.

Never fired a gun before. I was thinking about practising on some birds first. Maybe start with larger birds something like a swan then move onto pigeons etc.

Shoot it, but shoot it when you are sober. You don't want to shoot one of the neighbours dogs.

Remember the difference between a dog and a fox is 6 pints smile

I'd start on Cows, they're big and slow, then advance to Sheep, bit smaller and more nimble, then Badgers small and slow, and finally foxes

You can borrow my cat - she killed a baby fox last year. thumbup

If I had my way, i'd like to drop kick them off a cliff.

ETA - I love most animals - but Fox's are the exception to that rule.
