Pick Out The People's Car At Goodwood

Vote for your favourite car in the pre-'73 car park (and win some Champagne)

Regular visitors to the Goodwood Revival will know that Goodwood puts on a special car park for pre-'73 cars every year, and that it's a genuine highlight of the weekend, adding a huge waft of period atmosphere to proceedings even before you get to the circuit.

And this year there's an extra buzz to the car park, because our mates over on Classic & Sports Car magazine have decided that those who go to the effort of participating in this free car show (which last year drew a record 2081 cars, ranging from the 'humblest classics to multi-million pound exotica' as the C&SC folks put it).

You know all those People's Choice awards that get given out at awards ceremonies? Well this is kind of like that, but for classic cars.

It's called the Classic & Sports Car People's Concours - and the best bit about taking part is that you get the chance to win a bottle of Champagne if you vote for your favourite car.

So if you're heading down to Goodwood this weekend, look out for the special marquee, pop in, and fill out a voting slip. Not only will you get to peruse some lovely classic cars, but you also get the chance of nabbing a bottle of alcoholic pop. Lovely...

As I understand it, the winning car each day also gets a prize (well, its owner does) smile

'the effort of participating'...

As I have to work on saturdays, I have to rush over there to be able to visit the event.
From Belgium to Goodwood is a 5h drive, one way, and I have to be back at work monday morning, so thats 10h driving and a whole day of Goodwood.
I own a Freelander 2, a 1999 Chimaera 450 and a 1971 Tuscan V6

Conclusion:I will just NOT do the effort of participating with my Tuscan, and take the Chim instead.

The only 'Peoples Car' I can see is 2nd row from the back, 2/3 along moving from the left to right with a single chap walking along just behind it(who could be dressed as Capatin Kirk!)in a slightly burgundy'ish colour, ultramaroon I beleived they called it. Not sure why I know that!

I had a nice coffee and a bun inside the C&SC tent at Silverstone earlier this year. Well worth dropping in on them.

Last time I went to the Revival in 2009 the car park was the high point of the day and I spent more time in it than at the circuit, its not often you see this with no sign of the owners and the roof down on an overcast day.

Adrian Charity's silver Mercedes 190SL will be there - and I believe it's for sale! Goodwood is a great event, it must be the only car show where my girlfriend has asked me "when can we go back?!"

I am sure you can, you park the car then present yourself in readiness for the herding funnel/barriers for one's ticket/passes to be processed. Baaaa

Thou shalt beat all queues tomorrow AM...

I was going to say - if that's a Sunbeam Rapier between the Consul Capri and the Sprite I'll vote for that, 'cause me Dad had one.
Then realised 'we' weren't casting 'our' votes here.
