I know its not a proper track day, but how many people have done the silverstone experiences? What car did you do it in and what did you think of it?
Basically, work have given me a voucher to choose which one i want to do as a birthday presant, and not sure which car to go in.... Swaying towards the GTR....
But, does anyone know if they're dual control as everyone says they dont let you drive it properly, so was just wondering if i could gt away with "concentrating too much" so i cant hear the instructor tell me to change up a gear! lol

The instructors are there to help you drive it properly, the more you do listen the better it will be irrespective of any dual controls (and I would imagine the answer would be that they do have them!).
I'd check to see which track layouts the different cars are run on, I think the single seaters are generally on the Stowe circuit which is a good fun track but it isn't a part of the GP layout. Would be a shame to go there and not get out on at least a part of the main track in my view.

i see what you saying aboutthe instructors trying to help you, but ive been told they make you change gear really early, so you dont get to feel the full power of the machine your driving......
yeah, single seaters are on another track, but i dont think im that interested in them tbh! saw my dad do that and wasnt overly impressed.... think the main ones that catch my eye are: GTR, ferrari and aston...

I've done the Exige experience and the single seaters.
The Exige was on the southern part of the GP circuit taking in hanger straight and was brilliant. The instructor on the first laps was giving you guidance on braking points, turn in points etc, and i learnt a huge amount in the short time with him. On the second trip out he asked if i wanted im to keep talking me through, which he did moving the breaking points later and later on each circuit. The car was a standard Exige S, but with a uprated clutch, brakes harnesses and a fire extinguisher. Other than that it was a standard car not dual controlled, and was very good on the track. I even managed to go round the outside of a caterham on the approach to hanger straight.
The single seaters are equally as good, but a bit frustrating to start with. You have to follow a pace car to learn the lines and braking points before being let loose on your own. Once on you're own you can drive however you like, taking full advantage of the aero package and engine braking in the corners. I did go "cross country" a couple of times when missing down shifts approaching the big braking areas.
Overall it depends whether you want the experience of the car or the circuit. The higher end cars tend to give you less time driving than the others, and the instructers will be more carefull with them. Personally i wanted more time driving, which is why i have done the ones i have.

I can assure you that at silverstone we don't make you change gear early and yes we do have a brake pedal but the only time that I will use it is if you are about to put it in the gravel or the wall....As you have run out of talent.
Some of the instructors don't want you going flat out but most of us will have you going as fast as you are capable of. GTR mega bit of kit.

I've done a couple of track days they are great fun considering how much you pay and the value of the car.
Some instructors make u change early but others let you giv it some. The most recent one I did was in august at the prodrive track it's was a monsoon we got soaked I did the Audi r8 but the instructor was rubbish. Then when I was waiting to do the gtr GREAT CAR some doughnut put a Ferrari through a fence. He got caught out braking in standing water and put him off the track so the instructor was a little nervous about too much power coming out of the corners.
Bruntingthorpe will be my next track of choice they have a high speed lane for your last lap and can hit 140 ish. Look at vide on YouTube see what you think. Type in d44nny and have a look at my 2. Hope you have fun
