Insurance on a SL55

Hi All,

I've got a quote from Adrian Flux (£1500 for 3000 miles per annum) but wondering if I can do better?

Who should I be contacting?

I'm 35, postcode is central london ec1. Only fly in the ointment is I haven't had car insurance in my own name for 5 years. I've got 8 years NCB on a motorbike and am named driver on four family members' cars - really frustrating that this isn't recognised.

Any ideas on good insurers for SL55s much appreciated!

I tried lots of insurers for mine and the cheapest at the time was Admiral believe it or not at £610. 45 with full ncb. Plus the cost of the tracker
they insisted on. Run your details through the comparison sites and see what
you get ?

I know its not quite the same motor but I'm about to renew on my SLK55 and got quotes around the £550 mark. 8 yrs NCB, full business cover etc and protected NCB. Am 36, never found Flux any good even on my Tuscan.

Try the aggregators, I got those prices through a bunch of them and I think it was eSure that offered the best.

just have to shop around, price comparison sites etc, mine is with elephant (just under 1k per annum for the sl55), also try liverpoolvictoria, esure, etc. I'm sure given your personal details you should find a policy for less than 1500.

I used money supermarket and im paying £1300 and im 28 with 7 years ncb. Everyone else was quoting well over £2000.

MoreThan have always been consistently cheaper for me...mid forties, 4 years NCB on the SL55.

The zero NCB on a car means most of the suggested sites are of no use - ridiculous quotes.

Does anyone know of specialist brokers who may be able to help? The generic comparison sites don't really cover this type of situation!

Nowell and richards staffordshire a broker I have used for years on all my vehicles, I would never use an insurance direct site- no back up at all when you need help

Just as an update - after trying everyone I could think of Adrian Flux were still the best quote. Seems many would not consider previous NCB held and treated the zero NCB as if I was a new driver....
